In 1990, Val Valentine had a vision to invest in timberlands that were strategically located in prime wildlife corridors in the states of North Carolina and Virgina. The Valentine family initiated wildlife management practices on these properties with both a vision and a goal in mind. Val was born in 1944 and raised in North Carolina during the hey day of large duck populations and on the other extreme - many areas void of whitetail deer. Even more of a rarity was the ritualistic, springtime gobble of a wild turkey. Val had a deep concern in seeing wildlife populations dwindling over the years and through innovative land management practices, has enjoyed seeing wildlife flourish on these managed lands. Val has passed down this stewardship to his son, Skip Valentine who is Vice President of Valentine Land and Timber. Skip, an avid outdoorsman in his own right, shares his father's passion and is dedicated to furthering his father's vision of developing and preserving critical habitat for our nation's wildlife. When not spending time in the great outdoors, Skip enjoys writing articles for outdoors publications such as this one for Hunt Club Digest.
