Skip Valentine -President, Broker-in-Charge
Skip, an avid outdoorsman in his own right, shares his father's passion and is dedicated to furthering a vision of cultivating and preserving critical habitat for our nation's wildlife. Skip has a degree in business management from North Carolina State University. He has traveled all over the world chasing various big game species in destinations from Africa to outer Mongolia. He is an avid bird hunter, enjoying both upland bird and waterfowl hunting and the conservation of both. A former pro-staff biologist for Tecomate Wildlife Systems, Skip has always been on the leading edge of wildlife management. His knowledge, skill, experience, and passion are evident in his work.
At the age of 18, Skip became a licensed real estate broker. Since then, he has made over 2500 real estate transactions. Since 2003 Valentine Land and Timber has sold over 100 million in recreational Real Estate in NC and VA. VLT can and will do everything it takes to help you by matching buyer and seller needs. Skip is also experienced in timber brokerage and management for both wildlife habitat and investment. When not spending time in the great outdoors hunting and fishing, Skip enjoys sharing his knowledge with young sportsman by putting on youth hunts as well as sponsoring various non profits that promote the sport of hunting.
Carlton Hinnant -Broker, Horticulturist, CROP depredation Contractor
Carlton's passion is for the outdoors,whether it's hunting, fishing or planting trees for wildlife habitat. He has a degree in Horticulture from NCSU, and has owned and operated Hinnants Nusery in Angier, NC for the past 32 years. He brings a wealth of knowledge about wildlife habitat and food plot management to the VLT team. Since 1992 Carlton has contracted crop depredation services to both land owners and the subdivisons that have nuisance wildlife. He has shown homeowners and landowners that by planting deer resistent oramentals you can have a beautiful landscape without deer damage. Carlton spends a lot of time in the woods and on the road looking for that perfect tract for hunting.
Mike Bateman- Broker, Land and Marketing Specailist,
Mike brings 25 years of experience to the team as a land salesman and marketing specailist for tracts of land in rural/development markets. Mike is an avaid outdoorsman and loves to work on the land and see the fruits of his labor come true. Valentine land and timber sold his personal farm for him in 2010 and that proved to him that we have the ability in a tough market to sell property. This is a veteran of many recessions and he has the knowledge to help you find that right tract. He lives and works the DOWN EAST market from his home in Little Washington NC, Call on mike and let him help you find the right tract soon.
Danny Foss- Wildlife Manager and Full Time Caretaker- Point of the Neuse Plantation- Lenior County
Danny is the backbone and the DO! behind all the wildlife management at VLT with over 20 years experience farming and trapping. Danny brings a very important element to the Valentine Land and Timber team. Operations manager on over 7000 acres, Danny spends most of his time improving and developing habitat on the 2000 acres in Lenior county where he and his wife Monica and daughter Abby live full time. Danny says, " I got the greatest job in the world and I live it every day I wake up!" This year during muzzleloader season Danny harvested the largest buck in VLT managed property history on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. This buck scored over 160 inches and aged at 5.5 years old. "This deer was a dream come true for me to harvest, I have to work all the time and for it to work out that I got the chance at this buck shows in the management styles and practices that Skip has put in place." This is Danny's 10th year working for the Valentines. It's getting better every year, and we hope to see you soon... maybe at "TICK BITE" or in a duck blind.
